When planning our trip to Hotel Xcaret Mexico, one thing we always make sure to book is the Xcaret Sunday Brunch Buffet at Las Cuevas. The brunch is held in a cave with beautiful views of the river. The buffet is open 10-4, and includes all the food and drinks you can handle. You can sit for hours and enjoy the delicious flavors of Mexico.

Is The Hotel Xcaret Mexico Brunch Buffet Worth The Price?

The Sunday Brunch Buffet at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is a highly coveted affair, so I suggest booking in advance when reservations become available. You can make reservations 30 days prior to your arrival.

The buffet has over 70 International items including a large selection of seafood items, pastries, meats, and more! Make sure you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the delicious array of food.

If you are a member, the buffet is free, however if not, you will have to pay. At this time the cost is about $200 per adult, and about $100 per child. It is completely worth it in my opinion for the amount of amazing food you will get to eat, but may not be worth it for a child if they don’t eat much.

There is also a bar where you can order tasty drinks to go with your meal. I like the mojito and mai tai, but you can order an array of drinks, or even have a shot of tequila to start the day off right.

This is the best brunch buffet in the Riviera Maya, and even guests not staying at the resort pay to come to this delicious brunch buffet.

Food Experience

Seafood Selection

They had an extreme amount of different seafood options, some of which I have never seen before. They also have a gigantic tuna that they cut at 12:00, so hang around to see it cut, and try a super fresh piece of fish.

Outside they had some delicious freshly grilled fish and shrimp. It was super tasty. I like eating them as is, but my husband likes getting the fresh tortillas and making tacos. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Inside Food Selection

The buffet has an extreme amount of food options to choose from, inside and out. Inside you will find a chef making fresh crepes to order, a large display of pastries and breads, a sweets area that included my favorite, churros and flan, a fruit display, breakfast foods like made to order omelettes, and more.

If you want some traditional Mexican breakfast cuisine, I suggest the chilaquiles rojos. They were so good and fresh and I have made them at home because I miss them. They were not as good because the chips they use are different than the ones in Mexico, but at least they remind me of the amazing time I always have in Mexico.

For the more adventurous, there is guacamole with ants or crickets. I was not daring enough to try these, but maybe you are!

Outside Food Selection

There is also an outside area where you can get hot, fresh, traditional foods and freshly grilled meats. There is a large pit where they cook different types of meats, empanadas, flautas, sopes, and cochinita pibil (a Mayan pork), just to name a few.

A highlight of the outside area is the women who make handmade tortillas on the grill. You can choose your filling and have fresh, made to order tacos. Have them the traditional way with just cilantro and onion, or add your favorite toppings such as guacamole, onions, sauces, etc. Personally, I like the pickled red onions. I can eat them all by themselves.

Atmosphere

The ambiance of the caves makes the brunch buffet a unique experience. There is a band that plays music while you eat, and the cave is nice and cool which makes this a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy your meal with family and friends.

As you eat, there is even a panadero that walks around with a bread basket hat, shouting “pan” and honking a horn. If you need some bread or a pastry, call him over to see what he has to offer.

Final Thoughts

The Sunday Brunch Buffet at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an experience you don’t want to miss, and is worth the price in my opinion. The variety of foods, the delicious drinks, and the relaxing atmosphere make this an unforgettable experience.
