Location

The Nickelodeon Resort is located in the Riviera Maya of Mexico, about 25-30 minutes from the Cancun International Airport. As an added bonus, roundtrip transportation is included for the Cancun Airport. The resort is set up with the lobby and waterpark after you enter, and the rooms located farther in on the ocean.

Aqua Nick Waterpark

Let’s start off with the best part about staying at the Nickelodeon Resort, Aqua Nick, the included waterpark. This is by far where we spent the most time during our stay. We went to the waterpark everyday, for most of the day. With such a great amenity included, there is no need to go anywhere else.

Water Features

Aqua Nick has many areas for people of all ages to enjoy. There is a Paw Patrol themed area for small children, the main waterpark area that features Sponge Bob characters with slides and daily slimings, a lazy river, and an area that has large water slides for older children or adults.

We spent most of our day at the main Spongebob waterpark. There are towers, bridges, and slides in this area. My daughter was 8, and enjoyed this area the best. This is also the area where the daily group sliming occurs.

Food and Drinks

When staying at the resort, food is included at Aqua Nick, no need to leave and waste time when you could be having fun. Aqua Nick has various stands set up around the park, each with a featured cuisine, called Aqua Bites. There is a pizza stand, a hamburgers and hotdogs stand, and a poke bowl stand. If you would prefer to sit down for lunch, Nick Bistro is close to Aqua Nick so you wouldn’t have to go very far.

Aqua Nick also has cabanas around the park that you can rent for an added cost. If you rent a cabana, you get a stocked mini bar, a butler, and can order food right to your own space. This is convenient as the waterpark gets extremely packed because they also sell day passes to Aqua Nick.

Aqua Nick has alcoholic beverage carts set up at the waterpark that you can walk up to and order. They all seemed pretty well stocked, so they can probably make anything you desire. We sat under the canopy by the entrance to the main waterpark, and a waiter came around to take our drink order. The only thing is, Aqua Nick did not start serving alcohol until noon, so be prepared for that.

Autism Certified

A unique aspect of the Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico is that it is Autism certified. All staff that interact with guests have taken several courses in Autism awareness to help train them in situations that guests with Autism might encounter during their vacation.

The Nickelodeon Resort has a special Autism Concierge that can be contacted for specific needs during the vacation. This is an added bonus as most resorts do not have this amenity or employee training. The Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico wants to make sure all families have a great vacation.

Amazing Rooms

Standard Rooms

The Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico is built on the ocean, and all rooms are oceanfront. This is a great added bonus because most resorts do not have an ocean view room as the standard room and charge you extra.

Another unique feature of the Nickelodeon Resort is that each room also has a pool on the balcony, or is a swim up to the main pool. This is an awesome added value for your stay. Kids can swim and enjoy themselves even after the sun has set because of this extra bonus.

The rooms at the Nickelodeon Resort are extremely clean and well kept. Rooms still look brand new with very little wear and tear. Each room has an in room air conditioner making it super convenient to set the room temperature to one that makes you happy.

The room we had came with 2 beds, but there is also the option for one king sized bed. The decor in the rooms is bright and kid-friendly, with wall art and pillows featuring loved Nickelodeon characters. The beds were super comfortable and really allowed you to relax and get a good night’s sleep for the next day’s activities.

The room had 2 bathrooms, which is great when you have kids. This also made getting ready for dinner much faster because you did not have to share the bathroom, or wait for someone to finish getting ready before you started.

Signature Suites

The Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico has 3 specialty suites. The suites can sleep 5 adults, or 2 adults and 5 children. The suites feature a master suite with a king sized bed, and another bedroom with 2 queen sized beds. The bathrooms have rain showers and double sinks. The master bath also has a free-standing tub. There is an oceanfront terrace with an infinity plunge pool for each on the suites.

When staying in a suite, you receive many upgraded amenities. Each suite has a butler to help make sure your stay is an amazing one. They can help you book your preferred access to restaurants for meals. You receive two 50 minute massages at Naay Spa, a free slime experience, a welcome gift, a character meet and greet, one character breakfast experience, and a one day use of a cabana at Aqua Nick. These included amenities make staying in a signature suite even more rewarding.

There are three different suites to choose from. The Big Kahuna Suite, the Lair Suite, and the coveted Pineapple Suite. The Big Kahuna Suite pays tribute to the iconic Nickelodeon shows and characters. The Lair Suite is decorated in the Ninja Turtles theme and would be perfect for the little ninjas in your life. The Pineapple Suite, of course, is decorated in the Spongebob theme and has a golden pineapple on the terrace. Any one of these suites would make your vacation the vacation of a lifetime.

Restaurants

The resort has several different themed restaurants for you to choose from. We did not eat at all of them, but since the food is so delicious, I’m sure all of them are great choices.

Le Spatula

The first restaurant we ate at was Le Spatula. We ate here for breakfast everyday, and it is a buffet restaurant. The food was delicious and had many different options to choose from including breakfast and lunch foods.

When you first enter there is a fresh fruit bar, with yogurts and fresh juices. They have a large area that has lunch type foods, and an area for breakfast foods such as pancakes and waffles. They had a deep dish pizza at one of the bars that was amazing, I loved it.

Pizza and sandwich section at Le Spatula

One of the best things at Le Spatula is that they have a kids buffet area. Kids can choose from foods geared towards kids’ tastes, and many kid themed desserts. I have never been to a resort that had a special kid themed buffet area.

Nick Bistro

This sit down restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. It is located near Aqua Nick, and you can see if from the park. This restaurant offers family-friendly options, and this is also where you will go if you schedule a character dining experience.

Piazza

As the name suggests, this sit down restaurant is an Italian restaurant open for dinner. Decorated in the Ninja Turtles theme, it features pizza and other Italian specialties. The pizza here was delicious, as was the lasagna. Definitely a must try.

One of my daughter’s favorite things at this restaurant was the dessert pizza. It was pizza crust with Nutella and different types of candies and gummies on it. It is something your kids will love if the love Nutella and candy.

Good Burger

The Nickelodeon Resort also has a burger restaurant that showcases the movie, Good Burger. This restaurant is open for dinner, and also has an ice cream truck inside. Even if you do not eat dinner here, you can still visit the ice cream truck for your nightly treat.

Yacht Club

The Nickelodeon Resort has an interactive dining experience called the Yacht Club. It is open for dinner, and the website says it showcases the chefs travels around the world. We did not eat here during our stay, but the restaurant looks bright and welcoming. Please note reservations are also required at this restaurant.

Tavola

The Nickelodeon Resort Mexico also has an upscale restaurant named Tavola. This restaurant offers gourmet selections and unique cocktails in a stylish setting. This restaurant requires reservations and is an additional cost.

Extra Experiences

Character Breakfast

The character dining experience at Nick Bistro allows children to dine with iconic Nickelodeon characters. Children can get pictures taken with the characters, do meet-and-greets, see performances, and even take home a gift. Reservations are required for this experience, and there is also an additional cost.

Personal Sliming

While at the Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico, guests can participate in a group sliming that occurs everyday in the waterpark. When it is time, green “slime” comes out of the water sprayers in the main SpongeBob area.

Want a more personalized experience? For an added cost, you can get a personal sliming in a designated area. You sit on a Nickelodeon themed slime bench, and get slimed. This is a fun experience that can’t just happen anywhere. If you are interested in this, make sure to book it ahead of time.

Shows

A kids resort wouldn’t be complete without some entertaining shows to watch. At Plaza Orange you can take in a show or dance party. Check the app to see what is happening here each day.

Character Meet and Greets

Several times a day, children can meet some of their favorite characters and take a picture. There is a character spot inside Aqua Nick once you exit the gift shop. There are many different character experiences in this location.

We also saw characters in other places around the resort. Make sure to check the app for characters and locations each day so that your children can meet their favorite characters before you leave.

Recap

The Nickelodeon Resort Mexico is a family-friendly oasis. My daughter really enjoyed staying here, and talks about going back all the time. I enjoyed myself as well, and would definitely stay here again. The food was great, but being able to go to Aqua Nick everyday was even better. The rooms were bright and spacious, and you get the luxury you pay for.
