The Hotel Xcaret Mexico all-inclusive resort is a AAA 5 Diamond Resort located in the Riviera Maya of Mexico. This is the family friendly resort of your dreams. When you enter the lobby, you are taken away by the resort’s beauty. It is a dream in paradise.
While in the lobby area, make sure to stop at the paleta cart to enjoy a Mexican popsicle. Each day they have different flavors, and we made sure to go each day and try something new.

The resort currently has 900 rooms, with an additional 900 set to open this July for a total of 1800 rooms. The resort is huge, and there is something new to see everyday. Where Is Hotel Xcaret Mexico Located?
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is located in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico, south of Playa del Carmen. It takes about an hour to get to the resort from the Cancun Airport without traffic. Depending on what time you fly in, traffic could be heavy on the main road.
One of the benefits of this resort is that transportation is included with your stay. Xcaret has an arrival area outside where you will go to check-in once you clear customs. You have to let them know ahead of time that you want the transportation and your flight information so that they can plan accordingly. Xcaret will also pick up from the new Tulum Airport, but you have to set that up with Hotel Xcaret ahead of time.
How Much Does Hotel Xcaret Mexico Cost?
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is a AAA 5 DIamond resort, and the price tag reflects that. For 2 adults and 1 child, the price is about $1300-$1400 per night. While this is on the higher end for all-inclusive family resorts in Mexico, the included amenities, parks, and excursions make it worth the price.

Hotel Xcaret Amenities
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is a luxurious paradise. From the moment you step on to the property, it is like you are transported to another world. Again, almost everything is already included in the price except for the spa and some dining options.
All inclusive resorts are my favorite because I don’t have to worry about anything other than tipping. That being said, tipping is not required but the staff work so hard to make this place magical that I gladly tip to show my appreciation.
Rooms
The rooms at Hotel Xcaret Mexico are all wonderful. When you walk in, the rooms are bright and colorful. The decorations in the rooms are made by artists in Mexico, and you can find out all about them on a special TV channel in the room. The balconies include a hammock, perfect for an afternoon siesta. On the table in the room were plastic reusable bottles to help cut down on waste. The best part, you get to take them home as a souvenir!
The bathrooms are spacious, and the rain shower is amazingly refreshing and spacious. The bathrooms are stocked with Xcaret’s signature xampoo, conditioner, body wash, bubbles, and lotion. We had the honey scent, but I have heard they have others as well.

The room included a king sized bed (some rooms have 2 beds instead) that was hard to get out of because it was so comfy. I left wanting to take the bed with me. It was definitely a great place to relax after a fun day at the parks or an adventurous excursion.

When booking, there are many different suite levels to choose from, and they are spread out throughout the resort’s casas. Below is a list of the casas and the types of suites you can book in each one.
Each night housekeeping would come around and leave a little hand-woven basket with local candy inside. They even included a little card that tells you about the candy they gave you. This was my daughter’s favorite and we have all the little baskets at home that she now uses to store things.
Any room you book is sure to be amazing because Xcaret knows how to bring the luxury.
Water Activities
The resort has 11 refreshing pools. Some are accessible to all guests, and some are reserved for specific ages. We rotated pools on different days to try out different ones. Some pools have Xelfie stations at them, so don’t miss that opportunity. The Central Pool near Gin-Gao had macaws next to it each day. It was fun to see these colorful birds up close and listen to them “talk.” Most pools have swim up bars, making it easy to get a drink for anyone in the family.

The resort also has a beach area although is is rather rocky. There are many rivers flowing through the resort that offer some swimming, areas to play in the sand, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Make sure you look for the hidden waterslides into the river throughout the resort for a fun scavenger hunt.
Delicious Restaurants
Mercado de la Merced
One of the best thing about this resort is the delicious gourmet food that you can eat. The resort has a buffet called Mercado de la Merced. The buffet offers traditional Mexican foods plus international foods, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have to say the food at the buffet is amazing. I have never eaten such delicious food at a buffet before. We ate here everyday for lunch, and most nights for dinner. The food was so good I didn’t really want to go to the a la carte restaurants.
Xin-Gao
We did eat at Xin-Gao one night for dinner. Gin-Gao offers Teppanyaki, Robatayaki, Fusion, and Omakase experiences. We chose the Teppanyaki, which is traditional hibachi cooking. The chef cooked the food in front of us at the table, and was very entertaining. If you would like this experience, I suggest you book ahead of time because there are not too many spots for the Teppanyaki.

Sunday Brunch Buffet at Las Cuevas
On thing I never miss when staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is the special Xcaret Sunday Brunch Buffet. The brunch is held at Las Cuevas starting at 10:00 AM, and is absolutely massive. If you are not a member, the brunch is an additional cost, but is well worth it in my opinion for the quality and amount of food.
The buffet features fresh, authentic Mexican foods such as tacos, flautas, empanadas, sopes, cochinita pibil, and so much more. They have grilled meats, and even handmade tortillas. There is a seafood section with a huge variety of seafoods including King Crab Legs and a large tuna that they slice fresh in front of you.
For the adventurous, they even have ants and crickets you can try. They also have fruits, pastries, and desserts, not to mention a bar for your brunch mimosa or other choice of beverage. This is one of those dining experiences you will dream about after you leave.
Xelfie Stations
One of my favorite things to do at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is take pictures at all of the Xelfie stations around the hotel. This is a perfect way to remember you trip and take stunning pictures at the same time. I love that Xcaret incorporates this throughout their resorts and parks. It is one of the things I look forward to when coming here.

You will see scan stations around the resort where you can scan your resort bracelet to have your picture taken. The scan station is a round disk that says “escanea” and some of the cameras are designed as colorful alebrijes. Keep a lookout for them as you walk around the resort, and check out the map below.
Each night when you return to your room, you can see the pictures you have taken on the TV. We always had fun looking at our pictures each night. Xcaret offers many unique Xelfie shots throughout the resort, and these Xelfie spots are my favorite.

Recap
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an amazing, eco-friendly resort, and I highly recommend it for the family vacation of your dreams. With all parks and excursions included, you will have a fun-filled vacation that your kids will be excited to tell everyone about, and be begging to return to.
